‘Evangelion’ Train Exhibit Set To Finally Close This Spring

After launching in November 2015, the 500 Type Eva Project train ride will finally be closing in spring this year. Since it opened the attraction based on Neon Genesis Evangelion proved to be popular enough that its run was extended. The collaboration was first set up to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original TV series, and the 40th anniversary of the Sanyo Shinkansen train line.

Moving between Hakata and Shin-Osaka the full ride lasts just over 5 hours and the train sports many inspired design features. The exterior is based on the Unit-01 Evangelion and the carriages themselves are modelled on NERV hallways. Many character decorations and standees can be found on board, and there’s even a lead carriage where riders can simulate facing an Angel attack from the cockpit of an Eva.

To mark the end of this event the Kyoto Railway Museum will be holding an exhibit commemorating it from February to May 6th 2018.
