2017 Crunchyroll Anime Awards – The Results

On February 24th this year, the second annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards were held. Yet again the results are causing great debates and discussions across the online anime community.

With new categories added for Best Manga, Best CGI, Best Continuing Series, Best Slice of Life and Industry Icon the awards were bigger than they were last time too!

Here is a quick run-down of this year’s results:

My Hero Academia stood out as the ‘sweep series’ winning 7 of the awards:

  • Best Opening: “Peace Sign” – Kenshi Yonezu
    Best Animation
    Best Boy: Shoto Todoroki
  • Best Girl: Ochaco Ubaraka
  • Best Villain: Stain
  • Best Hero: Izuku “Deku” Midoriya
  • Best Action

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid won two awards:

  • Best Comedy
  • Best Ending: “Ishukan Communication” – Chorogonzu

And so did Made in Abyss:

  • Best Score
  • (and possibly the most important award) Best Anime

The rest of the winners were:

  • Best Film: Your Name
  • Best CGI: Land of the Lustrous
  • Best Slice of Life: Girls’ Last Tour
  • Best Continuing Series: March Comes in Like a Lion
  •  Industry Icon: Christopher Sabat – Funimation
  • Best Drama: The Ancient Magus’ Bride
  • Best Manga: My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness
